Jerome Williams is a 5th degree black belt (the highest rank awarded in SKA) and is the leader of South Los Angeles Shotokan Karate Club.  He began practice in 1971 at the age of 13 with the Boy Scouts. His first teacher was a brown belt from Melrose Dojo. Eventually he started practicing at Melrose Dojo under Tsutomu Ohshima in 1973 . In 1985 Jerome started practicing at Maryknoll Dojo . In 1996 with permission from Ohshima Sensei he started the South Los Angeles Dojo.
Mervyn McCurchin Shodan instructor at the South Los Angeles Dojo. Started in 2010.
Jose Lucero, Virgil McClain , Cornell Kirkland
Senior black belts that also taught at the South Los Angeles Dojo.
